Chaired by:

Prof. Dr. Deborah Jones

Université Montpellier, France

Deborah J. Jones received her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1982 from the University of London, King's College. After a period at Southampton University, UK, she secured a permanent position with the French CNRS. She is now Director of Research at CNRS and heads the laboratory for "Aggregates, Interfaces and Materials for Energy" at the Institute for Molecular Chemistry and Materials at Montpellier University, France.

Her interests have included ion and electron transfer and transport in insertion and intercalation materials, and proton conduction properties in solids ranging from soft matter to high temperature proton conducting ceramics. She has been working in the field of the development of membrane materials for proton exchange membrane fuel cells since the mid 1990's and has actively participated in European collaborative research at all levels. She initiated the European Coordination Action on Membrane Electrode Assemblies, and the international conference series on Progress in materials for medium and high temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cells held in 2008 and 2010.

Deborah Jones is Senior Editor of the journal "Fuel Cells – from fundamentals to systems", co-author of more than 180 peer-reviewed journal articles and ten review articles, inventor on ten patents. Dr Jones has been an invited speaker at the Gordon Conferences on Fuel Cells (2004), Polymers (2009), Membranes (2010), plenary lecturer at the Grove Scientific Advances in Fuel Cells conference (2010), invited speaker at the International Fuel Cell Workshop (Kofu, 2003, 2009), and at the ACS Polymer Division conference on Advances in Fuel Cell Materials in 2007, 2009 and 2011. Deborah Jones is Chair-Elect of the
Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage Division of the International Society of Electrochemistry.
